Eckerö church is flooded in light thanks to unusually high and wide window-openings towards the south and the north. The present, rather low, nave was erected towards the end of the 13th centuy, but coins from the beginning of the 13th century have also been found, thus suggesting an earlier chapel on the same site. Wooden sculpture of a Gotland Madonna and a little crucifix are medieval as a the fragmentarily preserved wall-paintings.
