Stormskärs Värdshus
Stormskärs Värdshus, or "Östergårds" on Östra Simskäla is an archipelagic homestead from the late 19th century. The genuinely old country estate surroundings provide a fine setting for all visitors at Stormskärs Värdshus. The estate has belonged to the family since 1755 and the small archipelago farm is run by Lena & Mikael Lindholm.
The Stormskär restaurant is open for dinner 24.6.-5.8. daily 3pm-8pm. The menu is based on local products such as fresh fish and meat from own kettle and vegetables from neighbour farms.
A curious fact worth mentioning is that the house is the childhood home of Ålandic author Anni Blomqvist. She is most known for her novels about Stormskärs Maja. In the 1970s, the movie about Maja was made on the island of Väderskär.
You can enjoy the nature of the island Simskäla by walking the 2 km trail Ringvägen. In July you can visit the Simskälabarnens Muffinscafé, where you will be served coffee, Åland pancake and cookies. The café is open Tuesdays and Sundays 1pm-4pm.
