1. Payment terms

For online bookings, the reservation becomes binding once the customer has completed the booking and payment.

Reservations made through Ålandsresor's customer service are binding once the customer's payment has been completed within the agreed payment period. For reservations made via Ålandsresor's customer service, a service fee of 10€ applies. This fee is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. A fee of 5€ vill be charged for changes to a booking. However, no fee will be charged for additional bookings or changes made online.

Ålandsresor and the supplier reserve the right to cancel a booking if payment is not received. In cases of obvious pricing errors, Ålandsresor and the supplier reserve the right to correct the price or cancel the reservation. In such cases, the customer will be informed immediately of the price adjustment.

 

2. The traveler's right to cancel

Cancellations should primarily be made online and, as a secondary option, in writing via email to Ålandsresor. The cancellation is considered effective at the time Ålandsresor receives the cancellation notice.

Booking containing accommodation only:

Hotels: For cancellations made after 15:00 (local time) on the day before arrival, the traveler will be charged the full price of the booked product. We accept cancellations for 1-4 rooms up to the day before arrival. For 5 or more rooms, group booking canvellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 30 days before arrival; thereafter, charges will apply.

Cottages: For cancellations made less than 30 days before the arrival date, the traveler will be charged the full accommodation price.

Other accommodations: For cancellations made less than 14 days before the arrival date, the traveler will be charged the full accomodation price.

Since July 1, 2018, a new Package Travel Act has been in effect in Finland. Ålandsresor is covered by this legislation and, as a travel organizer, is obligated to inform customers of booking and cancellation terms. Travelers have the right to cancel their package travel at any time. As a travel organizer, Ålandsresor has the right to charge cancellation fees according to the law. Ålandsresor follows the recommendations of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, developed in cooperation with the Association of Finnish Travel Industry (SMAL).

Traveler's right to cancel package travel:

The traveler has the right to cancel their trip at any time before it begins. Cancellation fees will be charged as follows:

  1. An agreed service fee if the cancellation is made at least 30 days before the trip begins.
  2. 20% of the total price if the trip is canceled 21-29 days before the trip begins.
  3. 50% of the total price if the trip is canceled 7-20 days before the trip begins.
  4. 75% of the total price if the trip is canceled 3-6 days before the trip begins.
  5. 95% of the total price if the trip is canceled less than 3 days before the trip begins.

No refunds will be issued if the trip is not canceled and the traveler fails to arrive at the agreed departure point or cannot participate in the trip due to missing documents, such as as a valid passport, visa, ID, or vaccination certificate.

Cancellations of special land arrangements:

  • Golf tee times:
    • For 5-20 people: Free cancellation up to 1 month before arrival. After that, no refund will be issued.
    • Fo 21 people or more: Free cancellation up to 2 months before arrival. After that, no refund will be issued. 
  • Concert tickets, other performances, or tournament fees: No refund will be issued, regardless of the time of cancellation.

Cancellations due to illness: In the case of acute illness confirmed by a medical certificate, accident, or death affecting the traveler or their immediate family (spouse, children, parents, siblings or cohabitant), the full amount will be refunded. The cancellation must be made before the date of arrival. We recommend that all customers purchase travel insurance to cover unforeseen events.

 

3. Complaints

Any complaints must be addressed as soon as possible, directly to the supplier of the travel/accommodation/activity. If no resolution is achieved after a direct complaint, Ålandsresor must be notified immediately. Claims for compensations must be submitted to Ålandsresor within 21 days of the trip. 4. Force majeure

In the event of force majeure (catastrophe, strike, riot, fire, acts of war, etc.), Ålandsresor may terminate the purchase agreement. The customer will be notified immediately, and fees paid will be refunded without deduction. No further compensation will be provided.

 

5. Disputes

If no agreement is reached with the supplier regarding the complaints, the customer may refer the dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board in Finland. See www.kuluttajariita.fi/en

 

6. General terms for accommodation bookings

Ålandsresor's responsability:

Ålandsresor is responsible for handling the rental agreement between the guest and the supplier/accommodation owner, who is responsible for ensuring that the information provided is accurate. Ålandsresor undertakes the mediate contact between the parties in the event of a contractual dispute and to handle the matter. Ålandsresor cannot be held liable for braches of contract by the supplier. However, Ålandsresor reserves the right to offer the guest equivalent accommodation or refund the rental amount paid. No additional compensation will be provided to the guest.

Change of rental property:

Ålandsresor may, due to circumstances beyond its control, change the rental property to equivalent accommodation of similar value and location, subjet to the guest's approval.

Rental period:

Typically, the rental period begins at 15:00 on the day of arrival and ends at 11:00 on the day of departure, unless otherwise stated in the accommodation decription. For early arrivals and/ord late departures, the accommodation must be booked and paid for the day before and/or the day after, unless the agreements exist with the supplier. The guest must inform the supplier of their estimated time of arrival and agree on a meeting place for key collection well in advance of arrival.

Supplier's (landlord's) responsibilites:

The supplier is responsible for ensuring the information about the rental property is accurate and that the guest has access to the property during the agreed rental period.

Supplier's (landlord's) termination of the rental agreement:

In the event of force majeure (e.g., disaster, strike, riot, acts of wat, etc.), the supplier may terminate the rental agreement. The guest will be notified as soon as possible. If the agreement is terminated due to force majeure, all fees paid will be refunded without deduction. No additional compensation will be provided to the guest. The supplier shall, if possible, offer the guest equivalent accommodation. The guest will be required to pay the full price of the alternative accommodation.

Guest's responsibilites:

The guest agrees to follow the rules, instructions, and regulations provided by the accommodation. The guest is responsible for any damage to the property or its contents and must compensate the suppier directly for such damages. If cleaning is not included, the guest is responsible for cleaning the property during the rental period and upon departure. If cleaning has not been completed and must be carried out by the supplier, the supplier will charge the guest a cleaning fee, which may be invoiced even after departure. For certains cottages, final cleaning can be ordered for an additional fee.

The number of persons (including children) must not exceed the number of beds specified in the accommodation dectiption without the supplieräs consent. The supplier has the right to charge an additional fee for extra persons, even if no extra beds are provided.

 

7. Travel guarantee and package travel act

Ålandsresor Åland Ab (Ålandsresor),company ID 3486782–5, has provided the statutory travel guarantee to the govenment of Åland. The guarantee protects travelers financially in case of insolvency.

The package travel act applies for package tours. A package tour is travel arragements consisting at least two travel services (e.g., transportation and accommodation) and must last more than 24 hours or include overnight stays.

 

8. Language discrepancies

In the event of any discrepancies or uncertainties arising from linguistic inaccuracies, the Swedish version of these terms and conditions shall always prevail.
